U.S. Rep. J. Randy Forbes launched a new Web site Thursday morning for people impacted by the closure of International Paper Co.’s Franklin mill and also announced special office hours in Franklin.
The Web site features a list of resources that are available to families and small businesses, including information on employment training, unemployment assistance, eligibility for medical assistance programs and loan programs and resources from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Rick Franklin, Forbes’ senior district representative, is holding special office hours in Franklin every Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the second floor conference room in the city manager’s office at City Hall. Hours will be expanded as needed.
“While there is no easy or immediate solution to cover a loss of this magnitude, my office is here to support your community by providing resources and tools that are available to assist individuals, families, and businesses,” Forbes said in a statement on the Web site.
The Web site can be accessed at http://forbes.house.gov/IPresources/.
