A Portsmouth man is in custody, and two juveniles face criminal charges following a short string of thefts on Gunston Drive on Sunday night.
Portsmouth police have charged JaQuinton Wilson, 18, of George Washington Highway in Portsmouth, with receiving stolen goods, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Portsmouth Detective John Doyle.
Wilson was arrested in Portsmouth on Monday morning after police in that city conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in which he and two juveniles were riding, according to Suffolk spokeswoman Debbie George.
Suspecting the vehicle was stolen, Portsmouth police called Suffolk to help determine its status. When Suffolk police contacted the owner on Gunston Drive, she told them the 2003 Oldsmobile Alero should have been parked in her driveway.
During the ensuing arrest, police confiscated a handgun believed to have been stolen Sunday night from a separate vehicle along Gunston. A GPS device was stolen from a third vehicle along that road, George said, but Portsmouth police were unable to confirm whether it was found in the car at the time of the arrest.

Doyle said Monday afternoon that police were still waiting for petitions to be filed against the two 17-year-old juveniles who were in the vehicle. He expected charges to be filed against them later in the day on Monday.
