Burton Arlanda Chittum Sr., 88, died February 14, 2010, in Courtland Healthcare Center.
Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Sadie and Emmett Newton Chittum and the widower of Minnie A. Chittum, and he was predeceased by granddaughter Bambi Stelton and two brothers.
Mr. Chittum was a parts supervisor for the city of Suffolk.
Survivors includes two daughters, Shirley Cutchin and husband Jerry of St. Augustine, Fla., and Rebecca Bailey and husband Jimmy of Virginia Beach; two sons Burton A. Chittum Jr. and wife Frances of Suffolk and Ronald L. Chittum and wife Sheila of Adel, Ga.; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at 2 PM. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Dolan Talbert. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
