Elizabeth Queen Hunter, 83, of 406 Riddick Circle, Suffolk, Va., died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 in Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Virginius Copeland and Queen Fannie Copeland.
She attended Norfolk State College (University). She was a homemaker/babysitter for more than 50 years. She was a longtime member of Metropolitan Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Eddie Hunter; one son, James L. Holland Jr. of Brandywine, Md.; four daughters, Sharon E. Hart (Alton), of Suffolk, Edwina Hunter, of Richmond, Va., Melinda A. Hunter, of Norfolk, Melissa A. Hunter, of Suffolk; seven grandchildren, Marcus Elam, Marvin Elam, Eddie Holland, Latisha Dawkins, Shawn Hart, Matthew Hunter, and Sara Hunter; eight great-grandchildren; aunt, Lucille Lawrence, of Courtland, Va.; sisters in-law, Ruth Copeland, of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Lilly Hunter, of Abilene, Texas; brothers-in-law, Edward Hunter, of Abilene, Texas, and Herbert Darden, of Suffolk; two godsons, Calvin Palmer, of Temple Hill, Md. and Troy Brinkley, of Suffolk; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 1, 2010 in Metropolitan Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Robert Hobbs. The family will be at Crocker Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010 from 6 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
