Robert A. Ashley, 56, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away on Feb. 16, 2010. He was a native of Suffolk, Va. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Ashley, of Jacksonville, Fla., his father, William E. Ashley Jr., of Suffolk, Va., brother, Barry Ashley, of Portsmouth, Va., and sister, Donna Ashley, of Greenville, N.C.
Robert was an Eagle Scout, a past director of respiratory therapy at a Hampton Roads area hospital, and later owned several businesses. He was a graduate of Rhema Bible College and Demata School of Missions. He served as a short-term missionary in Norway and India.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 7 at West End Baptist Church, 501 W. Washington St., Suffolk, Va. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
