King’s Fork’s two starting post players both earned All-Eastern Region honors as the All-Region teams were announced Wednesday evening.

Davante Gardner, KF’s 6-foot-8 senior center, was named First Team All-Region. Jay Copeland, a 6-foot-6 senior forward, was named to the region’s second team. Gardner and Copeland earned All-Southeastern District honors each of the last two seasons. This is the first All-Region honor for both players.

Gardner and Copeland led the Bulldogs to their second straight season championship in the Southeastern District and third straight SED Tournament title. The Bulldogs have won 48 straight district games and finished this season 24-3 overall.

Gardner was voted Player of the Year in Suffolk on the 2009-10 All-City Team as voted on by the coaches at King’s Fork, Lakeland and Nansemond River.

Nansemond River 6-foot-2 sophomore center Delisia Sharpe was voted the city’s Player of the Year on the girls side. Sharpe was named First Team All-Southeastern District and was the only Suffolk player on the first team.
