PORTSMOUTH — Eunice Almeda “Meda” Davis, 77, of 928 Palmer St., Portsmouth, Va., died Tuesday, March 2, 2010. She was a native of Gates, N.C., and the daughter of the late Gilbert Smith and Ida Wilson Smith.
She was educated in the North Carolina and Virginia public schools. She retired after 30 years in domestic work. She was a member of the St. Matthews Pentecostal Holiness Church in Suffolk, Va., and its Missionary board, a choir member and member of the Pastor’s Aide.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Eddie L. Davis, Sr. of Portsmouth, VA; four daughters, Cheryl Williams (J.T.) and Iris Davis Moore both of Suffolk, Henritta Senese Davis Karim (Siraaj) of Portsmouth, and Nadine Davis Boone of Falls Church, VA; one son, Eddie L. Davis, Jr. of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Ida Frances Smith and Laura Jane Williams both of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Katina Renee Adams of Suffolk, Antione Davis (Levitica) of Norfolk, VA, Ronnie Latray Harris (Shaneequa) of Portsmouth, Brandon J. Davis and Bohmad J. Davis both of Suffolk; seven great-grandchildren; three God-daughters, Brenda Cook of Chesapeake, VA, Katrina Watford Gamble of Fayetteville, NC, and Juanita Bell of Portsmouth.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 in St. Matthews P.H.C. officiated by Pastor Sarah Hill. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Norfolk, VA. The family will receive friends at Crocker Funeral Home in Suffolk, VA on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
