SUFFOLK — Melvin Lee Webster Diggs, 68, of the 100 block of Pembroke Lane, Suffolk, Va., passed away on March 2, 2010. He was the son of the late Rev. James Lee Sr. and Lillian Alice Diggs.
Survivors include his wife, Toni; son and daughter-in-law, Melvin II and Chiquita, of Suffolk, Va.; three granddaughters, Kayla, Ashley and Loneicia, of Suffolk, Va.; three sisters, Mary Brown (Charles), of Suffolk, Va., Wilma Elbouhnini (Hassan), of Mitchellville, Md., and Peggy Boone (Calvin), of Newport News, Va.; one brother, Benjamin Diggs (Hosanna), of Greensboro, N.C.; one aunt, Plummie Hicks, of Baltimore, Md.; one uncle, Bishop Sherman Diggs, of Camden, N.J.; three sisters-in-law, Louise Diggs, of Suffolk, Va., Janice Burrell, of Hampton, Va., and Charlotte Lee (Rodney), of Springdale, Md.; one brother-in-law, Curtis Byrd, of Bridgeport, Conn.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Diamond Grove Baptist Church, 6890 Crittenden Road, Suffolk, Va., with the Rev. Calvin Lillard officiating. Burial will follow in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Va. Condolences may be sent to Pretlow-Chapman Funeral Home, 658 Main St., Smithfield, Va.
