Doris Lee Walker

Doris Lee Yates Walker, 70, of Philadelphia, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on March 16, 2010 after a long illness. She was born in Whaleyville Station, Suffolk, Va., to the late Charlie T. Yates and Georgia V. Mills Yates. She graduated from Southwestern High School in 1958. She is predeceased in death by a brother, Raleigh Lindell Yates.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 51 years, James Walker, of the home; a son, James Michael (Tonya), of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters, Alimah T. Walker, of Philadelphia, and Alisa T. Walker, of Somerdale, N.J.; and a special “son-in-law,” Steven Hansen, of Somerdale, N.J.
She also is survived by one brother, Charles Edward Yates (Clara), and her identical twin, Dorothy Mae Yates Dillard, all of Suffolk, Va.; one sister-in-law, Janie May Yates, of Coram, N.Y., and one aunt, Lee Ellen Mills, of Suffolk, Va.; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Cedric, Alexzander, Tamara and Anthony; nieces, Deborah, Tammey, Tracey, Adena and Sylvia; a nephew, Linwood Ronald; a godson, Daniel Dominic; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, numerous cousins and friends.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Fletcher H. Townsend Funeral Home, Inc. in Philadelphia, Pa. A viewing will immediately follow the service. Interment will be private. Cards and condolences may be addressed to the family in care of the funeral home. A celebration of life is planned at a later date.
