Elnora Biggs

Elnora Everette Biggs was born Nov. 1, 1922 in Hertford County, N.C. She was the first child of Michael and Agnes Cooper Everette. She attended public schools in North Carolina and Suffolk, Va.
She was an active and dedicated member of East End Baptist Church for more than 60 years. During her membership at East End Baptist, she served with Girl Scouts, food services, special care ministry, senior women’s sharing group and the Inspirational Praise Choir.
Mrs. Biggs was a member of the National Letter Carriers Auxiliary and the Imperial Crescent Club. She worked as food service manager at Booker T. Washington School and was also active in the PTA. Mrs. Biggs was an outstanding homemaker, a skilled seamstress and a master gardener. She derived much joy from working in her yard and flower gardens.
She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, W. Maurice Biggs Sr., who died on Nov. 16, 1998. Remaining to cherish her memory are two sons, W. Maurice Biggs Jr., of Franklin, Va., and Michael E. Biggs Sr., (Carolyn), of Petersburg, Va.; two daughters, Barbara Biggs Stewart, of Richmond, Va., and Joyce Biggs Atkins, of Smithfield, Va.; a sister, Gertrude Burwell, of Hampton, Va.; a brother, Samuel Everette, of Newark, N.J.; three sisters-in-law, Adelaide Biggs Montgomery, Naomi Biggs, and Dorothy Everette, all of Suffolk, Va.; seven grandchildren, Traci Biggs Young, of Palm Coast, Fla., Treva Biggs Davis, of Palm Coast, Fla., Reuben Shaw, of Chesapeake, Va., Lester Reynolds Jr. (Yadira), of Bellwood, Ill., Daryl Reynolds, of Herndon, Va., Dr. G. Brandon Atkins (Sharifa), of Cleveland Heights, Ohio and the Rev. Michael E. Biggs Jr. (Kimberly), of Stone Mountain, Ga.; six great-¬grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, devoted family friend, Carole Colden, and countless relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at noon on Tuesday, March 30 at East End Baptist Church, 523 E. Washington St., Suffolk, Va., officiated by Dr. Mark Croston. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 29 at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 E. Washington St., Suffolk, Va.
