C.E. Falk III took the lead on the fourth turn of the last lap to win the Denny Hamlin Foundation 250-lap Short Track Showdown Thursday at Southside Speedway in Richmond.
Hamlin, a NASCAR Sprint Cup star and Chesterfield native, raced in his event, as well as Kyle Busch, Elliott Sadler, Hermie Sadler, Curtis Markham, Tony Steward, Bobby Labonte, Marcus Ambrose, Joey Logano and Aric Almirola.
Falk, who won as Stewart finished second, was one of seven Langley Speedway regulars in the event. Southside Speedway drivers and other Late Model Stock Car drivers were also in the 30-car field. Falk won $7,500 for the victory.
A sellout crowd was on hand for the annual special event promoted by the Denny Hamlin Foundation to benefit Cystic Fibrosis research and care at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond. During the night’s events, two donations were made to the Denny Hamlin Foundation in the amount of $10,000.
