While the many civic leagues comprising the East Suffolk Federated Civic League are busy year-round helping the community, they are taking time to recognize some shining stars in the community this weekend.

On Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, the East Suffolk Federated Civic League will honor six people and distribute its 2010 Scholarship Award.

“On Friday night, people will be given their plaques and Clarissa McAdoo, Executive Director of the Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority, will be our speaker,” said Eleanor Clark of the civic league. “In the league, we get together to support one another and help make things happen for the community and the children. We’re about helping the children.”
