Fourth-seeded First Baptist upset top-seeded Summit in the semifinals of the Seven Cities Athletic Conference girls soccer tournament Tuesday at Suffolk Youth Athletic Association.

The Lady Crusaders prevailed in a penalty-kick shootout after the match remained scoreless through regulation and two overtime periods.

The victory is First Baptist’s first-ever win in soccer against Summit.

Even the penalty kicks needed overtime as both sides went 3-for-5 in the shootout round and sudden-death penalty kicks were needed.

Both teams converted in the sixth round. In the seventh round, Summit missed its kick and First Baptist’s Anna Carr booted the winning goal.

Goalkeepers Kate Powell of Summit and Becca Ballance of First Baptist were outstanding. Ballance was a double part of the shootout as she made one of the Crusader goals. Peyton Brown, Danielle Stauffer and Victoria Carr also made penalty kicks.

First Baptist will play OakTree Academy Thursday afternoon for the conference title at SYAA.
