Ovilla Vincent

Ovilla Boone Vincent, 84, daughter of the late William and Libby Peoples Boone, was called to eternal rest on May 11, 2010. She and the late Theodore R. Vincent Sr. had been married for 65 years.
Ovilla was born June 9, 1925, in Nansemond County. She was educated in the Nansemond County Public Schools. She retired from General Electric Company in the later years of her life. Prior to her health failing, she was a faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church in Suffolk, Va. As a faithful member of Canaan Baptist, she served as a Deaconess and a member of the Usher Board, along with other activities. Ovilla was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was predeceased by her brother, William Boone Sr., and her sister, Annie Mae Richardson.
She leaves to cherish and carry out her legacy, her sister, Mildred Perry, of Suffolk, Va. Her children, Theodore R. Vincent Jr.; Rita F. Vincent Hayes Fleetwood (Dennis), all of Suffolk, Va.; Dwight L. Vincent Sr., of Virginia Beach, Va.; Paulette Vincent Jordan Mills (Robert); and Michael Donnell Vincent (Vanessa), all of Portsmouth, Va.
Also, she leaves nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and dear friends.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 17, 2010 at Canaan Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Vernon Hairston. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Garden in Chesapeake.
