Clifton Skeeter Jr.

SUFFOLK — Clifton A. Skeeter, 85, of the 1600 block of Carolina Road, Suffolk, passed away June 4, 2010 at Nansemond Point Rehabilitation Center. He was a native of Portsmouth and son of the late Claude Skeeter Sr. and Alma Gill Skeeter. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Russell Skeeter, Nathan Skeeter and Claude Skeeter Jr.
Mr. Skeeter was a retired self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Mt. Ararat Christian Church, where he was a trustee and former member of the Senior Choir. He was a member of the Mt. Ararat Missionary Lodge No. 1 and the Tidewater Lost Chord Club.
He leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Florine Skeeter; one daughter, Cathy Copeland, of Suffolk; one sister, Myrtie Mae Skeeter, of Suffolk; two stepsisters, Mary Alston and Ruby Blizzard; a stepbrother, Elbert Williams, of Suffolk; one grandchild, Catina Myrick; one great-grandchild, Shanice Myrick; and other relatives and friends.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Mt. Ararat Christian Church, 1860 Airport Road, Suffolk, conducted by Dr. H. Harvey Murrill, pastor.
