Burglars target beer, cigarettes

Suffolk police are asking for help identifying two men who broke into the Happy Shopper convenience store on Carolina Road recently.

The men were captured on video between 3 and 4 a.m. May 25 as they broke one of the front windows of the business, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George.

One of them then entered the store and went for the cigarette counter and beer cooler, where he took 12-packs of Steele Reserve. The other man waited outside.

Police have released a series of still photos taken from the store’s surveillance cameras in hopes that someone will be able to help identify the suspects.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up. Crime Line callers do not have to give their names or appear in court. If a caller’s information leads to an arrest, the caller can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
