Suffolk/Windsor team wins SYAA tournament

The S&W Devilrays won the 12-and-under division of the Fourth of July Invitational Tournament at Suffolk Youth Athletic Association on Sunday. The Devilrays avenged an earlier defeat in the tournament to Southern Chesapeake in the final game with a 13-6 victory.
The Devilrays are an all-star team made up of six SYAA players and six Windsor Stingray players.
Starting the tournament on Friday evening, the Devilrays beat Southampton County 10-4. On Saturday, the Devilrays beat Deep Creek 13-2 and lost to Southern Chesapeake 7-5.
On Sunday, the Devilrays beat Southampton 13-0 to get to the championship game against Southern Chesapeake.
The Devilrays are coached by Nathan Gay, Steve Black, Barney Campbell and Jim Perry.
The S&W Devilrays go on to another tournament this weekend, a PONY regional tournament at Hugo Owens Middle School in Chesapeake.
