HAMPTON — C.E. Falk will try to land his second straight Langley Speedway track championship Saturday as the Crossroads Fuel Service Late Model Stock Cars wrap up their 2010 schedule with the Fishing Tidewater Twin 75s.
In addition to the Late Model doubleheader, Saturday’s feature lineup includes: Pepsi Grand Stocks (40 laps); Langley Fan Club Super Streets (40 laps); Casey Cycle City INEX Legends (25 laps); EZ Auto of Newport News UCARs (25 laps) and Standard Welding Pro Sixes (30 laps).
Front gates open at 1 p.m. with practice rounds and time trials during the afternoon. Pre-race activities, highlighted by the annual Track-A-Thon to benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp, begin at 6:30. The night’s first feature contest gets the green flag shortly after 7.
The track will welcome an honor roll of past Langley Late Model titleholders for a “Night of Champions” celebration.
Heading into the Late Model twinbill, Falk enjoys a large 50-point lead over Greg Edwards in the series standings.
Falk can seal the title by finishing 13th or better in both races. Falk’s worst Langley outing this season was an eighth-place finish.
Langley Speedway begins a steady diet of Modified action when racing resumes on Saturday, Aug. 28. That evening’s feature slate includes: B&C Seafood Modifieds, Pepsi Grand Stocks, Langley Fan Club Super Streets, Larry King Law Super Trucks, EZ Auto of Newport News UCARs and Standard Welding Pro Sixes.
The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour headlines Langley’s Labor Day weekend program on Saturday, Sept. 4. The starting field for the series’
150-lapper is expected to include many drivers from the History Channel’s “Madhouse” show.
