Isle of Wight County fair announces schedule

The Isle of Wight County Fair is coming Sept. 16-19, and planning your visit ahead can save you some money on admission.

The fair will be open Sept. 16 from 5 to 10 p.m., Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sept. 19 from noon to 7 p.m.

On Thursday, up to 12 legally seated passengers in one vehicle can get in for $30, including all-you-can-ride wristbands. Admission Friday through Sunday is $5 for ages 4 and up. Children 3 and under are free. On Friday only, seniors can get in for just $1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fair takes place at the Joel C. Bradshaw Fairgrounds at Heritage Park, located on Route 258 near Windsor.

Headline entertainment includes Jason Michael Carroll, The Band Perry, The Kentucky HeadHunters and more. All four days, trained bears, elephants and tigers will be demonstrated, as well as a firefighter training show.

As always, competitions are a big part of the fair, including a tractor pull, bullriding, lawnmower races, a mule and horse competition and more. Local residents will submit their baked and canned goods, arts and crafts, poultry, rabbits and produce for judging.

Midway rides and games will also be available.
