Suffolk’s John David Sanderson finished the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) Junior at Kingsmill in a tie for 41st place. Sanderson shot rounds of 76, 73 and 75 Tuesday-Thursday at the Kingsmill River Course (6,814 yards, par 71), the same course that used to host the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour events at Kingsmill.
Trey Wingo of Fairfax won the tournament, shooting 5-under-par for the 54 holes and beating Vermont’s Evan Russell by a stroke. The field had 107 boys ages 12-18 from 21 states, Canada and Italy.
Sanderson is a student and golfer at Summit Christian Academy in Newport News and he’s a member at Cedar Point Country Club.
