Police seek rape suspect

Suffolk police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault.
Jakeem Al-Tamir Shepperson, 25, is wanted on charges of rape, aggravated sexual battery, abduction and object sexual penetration. His last known address is in the 100 block of Chestnut Street.
Police believe Shepperson is aware he is wanted and is attempting to avoid arrest, according to a news release from city spokeswoman Debbie George. She did not provide specifics on the date and location of the incident, citing concerns for the victim’s safety.
Anyone who has information is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to Crime Line never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
