Cedar Point starting Senior Classic

Cedar Point Country Club is hosting the inaugural Cedar Point Senior Fall Classic Thursday, Oct. 7.
The event is a tournament, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start, and the field will be flighted by age with prizes for low gross and low net scores in each flight.
The main reason for the day though is a pleasant time on the links.
“It’s a way to promote the game of golf in Suffolk,” said T.J. Young, the club’s PGA professional and director of golf. “We really just want it to be a good day of golf on a good course.”
Cedar Point’s spread word of the tournament, for golfers 55-and-older, around Virginia and North Carolina and had a good response. About 40 players have registered, “which is pretty good for a first-year event,” Young said.
The registration fee is $65 and it includes golf, cart fee, range balls, lunch and prizes. To register or for more information, call 238-3554.
