Suffolk police are investigating a robbery and an attempted robbery that occurred Thursday.

Just before 9 a.m., police were called to the SuffolkFirst Bank in the 100 block of Bosley Avenue after employees reported an attempted robbery. They said a black male dressed in a black hoodie and dark pants, wearing a black mask and carrying a purple bag entered the first set of doors leading to the bank. However, bank employees refused to buzz him in through the second set of doors when they saw that he was wearing a mask, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. The man fled the scene.

About three hours later, at 12:03 a.m., three men entered the Athlete’s Foot store in the 900 block of North Main Street. One displayed a handgun, and the trio took cash from the register and several pairs of shoes.
