Suffolk police are asking for help identifying a man who robbed the Rite Aid store on North Main Street on Friday.
The man entered the store just before 9 p.m. and demanded money from the cashier. When the clerk didn’t move quickly enough for the robber, he jumped the counter and continued to demand money while waving a small black handgun. He took money from two registers and placed it in a purple bag. He left the store and fled in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5 feet 5 inches to 6 feet tall, with medium brown skin and a medium build. He was wearing a black derby-style hat, ski mask with holes for the eyes and mouth, black jacket and dark pants.
Anyone who has information is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to Crime Line never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
