Police have charged one driver in Tuesday’s three-vehicle accident that involved a school bus and are seeking the driver of another car that was involved in the crash.

Suffolk resident Beverly Jones, 53, has been charged with reckless driving.

Accident: A Suffolk Public Schools bus loaded with 52 Booker T. Washington Elementary School students was involved in a three-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon. Police have charged one driver from the accident.

An investigation revealed the school bus was stopped on White Marsh Road at 3:32 p.m. to unload students, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. A red Honda Accord stopped behind the bus.

The Nissan Altima driven by Jones, however, failed to stop. It rear-ended the Accord and pushed the Accord’s front end under the tail end of the bus.

Jones complained of pain and was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital, George said. No students on the bus were taken to the hospital from the scene.

The driver of the Accord ran from the scene, George said. Police still are trying to find him and pinpoint why he ran.

Anyone who has information on the Accord’s driver is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to Crime Line never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
