Several shops in North Suffolk are opening their doors and knocking down their prices to kick off the holiday season on the right foot.
The Shoppes on the Village Green at Governor’s Pointe, A. Dodson’s and Smithfield Gardens will all hold open houses on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
“We look forward to doing this every year,” said Kathy Flythe, owner of Katody’s. “Being a shop up here is like a being a part of a family. We just want to let people know we’re ready for the holidays and give them an event they can participate in as a ‘girlfriends’ day out’ or with family before things get hectic.”
The Shoppes on the Village Green at Governor’s Pointe include A Tisket, A Tasket, which specializes in custom baskets and unique gifts; Bon Vivant, which has large selections of wine, beer, coffee and gifts; and Katody’s, which has a wide variety of local art including glass, pottery, lighting, jewelry and eclectic gifts.
The shops will have passport to be stamped at the Governor’s Pointe shops and Smithfield Gardens. Once shoppers have all their stamps, they will be entered into a raffle for prizes.
Some stores will also have giveaways, and all stores will have refreshments throughout the days.
A. Dodson’s will be opening at 8 a.m., two hours early, on Saturday morning and has a special deal for those who friend them on Facebook.
“We want to let people know we’re here for the holidays and show them all the goodies we have in,” said Alison Anderson, owner of A. Dodson’s. “Our store is totally decked out and we’re ready for the holidays.”
The porch is striped like a candy cane and the shrubs have been turned to cupcakes, Anderson said. The store has snow machines, red neck wine glasses specialty candy, Alice in Wonderland and Old World vintage in stock.
