Everybody has left their phone somewhere.
Most folks, when they realize their phone is missing, either go back to the place they think they lost it or call the police department. Neither is an attractive option to one local man.
Suffolk Police are seeking a man they believe dropped his cell phone when he allegedly burglarized the pro shop at the Riverfront Golf Course last month.
Police were called to the golf course on Nov. 4 when employees there noticed a safe was missing. The burglary suspect, however, apparently had dropped a cell phone close to where the safe had been located.
With the assistance of the forgotten phone, detectives have identified a suspect.
Alonzo A. McKay, 40, is charged with one count of business burglary and one count of grand larceny. Police have been unable to locate McKay. His last known address is the 300 block of West 20th Street in Norfolk.
Anyone who knows McKay’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to Crime Line never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
