Plenty of people in Suffolk are looking forward to Friday.

The day marks the premiere of “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” in theaters. The movie will be presented in 3-D at Regal Harbour View Grande 16.

“We are expecting a big crowd,” said Sophia Ward, assistant manager at the theater. “The 3-D ones sell out like crazy.”

The popular Narnia movies are based on C.S. Lewis’ classic works of children’s fiction. The books typically feature children from our world who are transported to the fictional land of Narnia, a place where animals can talk and magic is common. “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” was originally published in 1952.

The Harbour View theater is having a number of events from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday to promote the movie, including coloring contests, fencing, martial arts demonstrations, door prizes, a scavenger hunt for adults and more.

Ward said the theater typically does promotions for blockbuster movies, but “this one is so big” that the company decided to add even more activities than normal.

The theater has held activities, including mini-scavenger hunts, for the entire month leading up to this week to prepare patrons for the big release.

The theater is located at 5860 Harbour View Blvd. in Suffolk. Call 638-7111 for more information.
