5-0 Chargers win tourney

Isle of Wight Academy’s boys basketball team won the Life and Breath Tournament at Wakefield School for the second straight season Friday and Saturday in The Plains.
The Chargers won the two games by a total of three points as sophomore Nathan Silverston gave the Chargers (5-0) nail-biter wins.
Silverston scored with 0:20 left to put IWA ahead for a 52-51 win over Wakefield Friday. Brandon Privette led the Chargers with 32 points. Privette is averaging 25.4 points per game on the season.
Isle of Wight beat Highland School 53-51 in Saturday’s championship game. Privette scored 21 points including a three-pointer to make it 51-51 with 2:15 to go. Silverston scored a field goal with 1:32 left to put IWA ahead to stay. Josh Thomas added seven points in the final.
Isle of Wight hosts Broadwater in a Metro Conference game Friday evening.
