To the editor:

I want to thank the Suffolk community for its support on Saturday, Dec. 11, during the wreath-laying at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.

More than 3,000 wreaths were paid for and placed on the gravesites in honor of the service to our country performed by these deceased veterans.

It takes many hours and much money to accomplish this event. We had excellent participation and attendance, even on such a cold day. The smallest contribution was $1, and that dollar along with many more showed what generous and caring people we have in our area.

We also had outstanding speakers and great music. Thanks also to the News-Herald for excellent coverage and support.
