Local schools join holiday tourneys

Four Suffolk basketball teams will be hitting the court in holiday tournaments next week.
King’s Fork’s boys team will be in the fourth annual Ronald Curry Christmas Classic at Hampton University Monday-Wednesday.
The Bulldogs (5-2) face Blessed-Sacrament Huguenot (2-1) Monday at 11:30 a.m. The Knights are a VIS (Virginia Independent Schools) Div. 3 school in Powhatan.
Games start at 10 a.m. each day at Hampton’s Convocation Center. The tournament is broken into two eight-team divisions. The final of King’s Fork’s bracket is set for Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs and Lakeland are in the 16-team Norcom Christmas Tournament Monday-Wednesday in Portsmouth.
Both squads play their first-round games Monday morning. The Lady Cavaliers (1-5) take on Norview (2-3) at 8 a.m. and King’s Fork (2-5) meets Kempsville (0-5) at 11:30 a.m.
Nansemond River’s boys team travels to Clarksburg, W.Va. for the 7th Annual Best Care Basketball Classic Wednesday and Thursday.
The Warriors (6-0) will face two of West Virginia’s top schools. NR meets host Robert Byrd (3-1) Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Bridgeport (3-0) Thursday. Byrd and Bridgeport made the West Virginia state tournament last season.
