Warriors go 2-0 on trip

After romping to a 73-47 win over host-school Robert C. Byrd on the first night of two at the Dyer Law Christmas Classic in Clarksburg, W.V., Nansemond River beat Bridgeport (W.V.) 51-44 Thursday night.
Bridgeport slowed the game down and made it tough for the Warrior offense with a zone defense. The Warriors and Bridgeport were tied 19-19 at halftime.
The Warriors built a 34-26 lead going to the fourth period. Michael Copeland scored seven of his 14 points in the final period to help NR hang on. Bridgeport cut the margin to two points twice in the closing minutes.
Ashton Moore led the Warriors with 18 points, five assists and three steals. Dontrell Brite had six points and six assists.
The Warriors (8-0, 5-0) return to Southeastern District play Tuesday night at Western Branch.
