To the editor:

On Jan. 13, Virginians will gather at 10:30 a.m. at the Bell Tower on the Capitol grounds in Richmond to listen to Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, and other pro-life leaders, doctors, activists and legislators at the first “Virginia Rally for Life.”

The purpose of the rally is to petition the Governor to implement regulations already in place in South Carolina to protect the lives and health of women visiting first trimester abortion clinics. After the rally, citizens will lobby their state legislators for pro-life legislation.

Our Declaration of Independence states that “all men are Created [not born] equal.” Our first right is life. We teach third graders in our public schools that life begins at conception. There is no debate over this fact. Yet it is legal to abort preborn children through all nine months of pregnancy in our nation! Over 50 million of our unborn brothers and sisters in America have lost their lives since the Supreme Court ended legal protection in 1973.

Many have been speaking out to restore the civil rights of preborn children, and to protect women and men from the painful aftermath of the abortion decision. If you believe in this cause for life, please join us in Richmond on Jan. 13. And please sign the petition to the Governor at www.virginiarallyforlife.com. Thank you!
