Debate short on good faith

To the editor:

What is missing in today’s political debate is the willingness to admit that the other side might at least occasionally be right about something.

Any politician or pundit who claims the other side is a complete lie is not operating in good faith. The only outcome of a negotiation on those terms is conflict.

This is also true of the dialogue between family and friends, husbands and wives. And likewise are we all guilty of denying the skeletons in our closets that occasionally rise up to terrorize the community and shame the family.
