Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design and construction management firm, has relocated its office from Newport News to the Harbour View area in Suffolk, company officials announced this week.
The company moved 30 employees to an 8,000-square-foot space on Harbour View Boulevard in December, Ed Blair, regional office manager, said on Tuesday.
The company’s Hampton Roads regional office provides a broad array of water supply, wastewater, environmental, transportation and geotechnical services to a variety of military, state and municipal clients, including the city of Suffolk and much of Hampton Roads, Blair said.
“We’re thrilled with the space,” he said. “It’s very nice, very convenient.”
The office also serves as a regional location for GeoDecisions, a division of Gannett Fleming and an award-winning leader in the information technology industry specializing in geospatial solutions.
GeoDecisions provides geographic information system and IT products to defense, homeland security, transportation, state, county, municipal and commercial clients.
The company employs more than 2,100 people in more than 60 offices worldwide. Since it was founded in Harrisburg, Pa., in 1915, Gannett Fleming has completed thousands of projects, working in each of the 50 United States and in more than 50 countries around the world, according to the company’s website.
The Suffolk office primarily employs engineers and “inter-spatial specialists,” people who specialize in working with the GIS software.
There could be room in the local office’s future for more of both types of employees, Blair indicated.
“We would certainly hope to grow our staff, both at the engineering level and at the software level,” he said.
