Chargers given first conference hoops loss

Williamsburg Christian handed Isle of Wight’s boys basketball squad its first Metro Conference loss of the season with a 79-37 blowout Tuesday night in Williamsburg.
Williamsburg Christian (11-6, 7-2) won each of the first two periods by 20-4 margins. Guard Deron Powers led the Eagles with 21 points, 16 coming in the first half.
Senior guard Brandon Privette led IWA with 18 points.
The Chargers (15-3, 8-1) are ranked No. 10 in the state Virginia Independent Schools, Div. 2 poll. The top 12 teams make the state tournament.
IWA travels to face Atlantic Shores Thursday evening. The Seahawks are 10-0 in the Metro including a 73-70 win at Williamsburg Christian last week.
