Florence C. Williams, 67, of 828 Kilby Ave., Suffolk, Va., died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late George Copeland and Elizabeth D. Hall.

She attended Savage Crossing School. She previously was employed at Goodman’s Florist and Rudy’s House of Flowers. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where she was head of the Youth Ushers and a member of the Senior Choir.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Elbert R. Williams Sr.; one daughter, Almeta W. Morris (Edward), of Suffolk; one son, Elbert R. Williams Jr., of Suffolk; four grandchildren, LaToyia B. Steward, Loren L. Williams, DeVon E. Morris and Corinthia Evans; two great-grandchildren, De’ja Batten and Dorien Batten; five sisters, Beatrice Hunter, of Suffolk, Evelyn Copeland, of Irvington, N.J., Jane Potts, of Fredericksburg, Va., Gloria Nichols, of Suffolk, and Marion Rountree, of Chesapeake; four brothers, James Hall, of Aliquippa, Pa., Melvin Demiel and Willie T. Hall Jr., both of Suffolk, and Kenneth E. Hall, of San Antonio, Texas; goddaughter, Angela Wilson; godson, James Whitfield; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at Gethsemane Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Ernest Simmons Jr. Interment will be in Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery.
