Snow day to be made up April 8

Suffolk Public Schools are closed Thursday because of morning road conditions, schools spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw said Thursday morning.
This is the fourth day students have missed this school year because of weather conditions. Students got a day off Oct. 1 because of a severe rainstorm that flooded area roads. They also have missed Dec. 16 and Dec. 17 as well as today for snow.
The first two days missed were built into the school calendar as “bank days,” Bradshaw said. The Dec. 17 snow day was made up on Jan. 31.
Thursday’s snow day will be made up on April 8 by changing a teacher clerical day to a regular school day.
City offices opened on a two-hour delay this morning. Trash pickup will continue as scheduled.
