To the editor:

The members of the Nansemond River Pilot Club and the American Cancer Society want to thank all of our friends in the area for their support for the 11th annual Womanless Beauty Pageant.

Considering the brave men who participated, the event was sure to be a success.

Dave Parker is a real friend of both sponsoring groups and gives generously of his time and talent. Our sister club, the Suffolk Pilot Club, also was a good source of assistance.

Several merchants assisted with the silent auction, so we had some good items for sale.

No event at the armory is complete without the staff of Parks and Recreation or our amazing security officers.

Also, the Suffolk News-Herald is to be commended for the excellent coverage.

The totals aren’t in, but we are pleased with all the generosity.
