A suspect in Katina Jones’ murder has been indicted on charges of theft and fraud involving Jones’ credit card.

Larry Nicholas O’Neal was indicted on one count of credit card theft and two counts of credit card fraud. Police say O’Neal used the credit card after Jones, 31, was found dead Nov. 7 in her Crowdy Boulevard apartment.

The case was the first time Suffolk Police dedicated a separate Facebook page to solving a single crime. The “Catch Katina’s Killer” site featured O’Neal’s photo and details of the case.

In October, Jones and O’Neal conversed via Facebook about his request for a ride from the Greyhound bus station in Norfolk. He was living in Houston, Texas, and was believed to be traveling back there by bus after Jones’ death. He finally turned himself in to Roanoke police on Nov. 19.

In addition, a man police say attacked his estranged wife in October was indicted by the grand jury this week for charges relating to the offense.

Suffolk police officers were called to the 400 block of Jackson Street when a neighbor heard screams. Upon arrival, they found his wife suffering from injuries around her face and head. She was hospitalized for treatment.

The grand jury also handed down indictments against a man wanted on 18 felony charges, including six counts of grand larceny, six counts of forgery and six counts of uttering.

Dwight Bernard Jones is accused of passing the checks at Friendly Check Cashing in the 200 block of East Washington Street and at Bunny’s Pawn in the 100 block of West Washington Street during August and September.
