Warriors honor their top athletes

Nansemond River’s Nick Garland, who wrestled at 112 pounds this season, was named Outstanding Wrestler for NR’s 2010-11 season. Garland finished third in the Southeastern District and was a regional qualifier this season.

Nansemond River held its Winter Awards Night on Wednesday evening. The following Warriors won awards for the season from their coaches or teammates:

  • Boys basketball – Coach’s Award – Ashton Moore and Dontrell Brite
  • Girls basketball – Most Valuable Player – Delisha Sharpe
  • Girls basketball – Coach’s Award – Jenel Cannon
  • Boys indoor track – Most Dependable – Fentrell Bratcher
  • Boys indoor track – Most Dedicated – Jason Philson
  • Girls indoor track – Most Accomplished – Mia McClain
  • Girls indoor track – Coach’s Award – Shelbi Holloman
  • Winter cheering – Coach’s Award – Danielle Smith and Lyndi Faxio
  • Wrestling – Outstanding Wrestler – Nick Garland
  • Academic Team – Most Valuable – Ashley Key, Emilyne Hubbard, Kalea Leverette
  • Academic Team – Most Valuable Tech – Marissa Stewart
  • Boys swimming – Most Valuable Swimmer – Lucas Chehuen
  • Boys swimming – Coach’s Award – Kyle Cook
  • Girls swimming – Most Valuable Swimmer – Rachel McManus
  • Girls swimming – Coach’s Award – Jessica Adams
