James Louis “Baldy” Warren, 72, of 259 Locust St., Suffolk, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 at his residence. He was a native of Isle of Wight County and the son of the late William Warren and Nellie Love Warren. He was also predeceased by four sisters, Carrie Lee Bell, Nellie B. Moore, Alberta Warren and Evelyn Jarvis; and one brother, William Warren.

He retired as a paint specialist from Newport News Shipyard. He was a member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Warren also was a Prince Hall Mason.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Mary Francis Warren; three daughters, Gloria Warren, of Portsmouth, Va., Sandra Warren and Alice Diggs, both of Suffolk; two sons, Jerry Lewis Warren (Tracey), of Richmond, Va., and James D. Warren (Carol), of Columbia, S.C.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lily Warren, Enda Warren and Yvonne Warren, all of Delaware; four brothers, Floyd Warren, of Hampton, Va., Joseph Coston, of Chesapeake, Va., Lee Warren and Timmy Warren, both of Delaware; a devoted friend, Charlie Lee Powell; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, March 18, 2011 at Diamond Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Calvin Lillard. Interment will be at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
