Fire victim identified

Fire: A man was seriously injured in this Tuesday morning fire on Battery Avenue. The damages to his home and contents are estimated at $50,000.

The man seriously injured in a Tuesday morning house fire in the 600 block of Battery Avenue has been identified.

James Arthur Davis, 40, remains in critical condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after being airlifted there from Sentara Obici on Tuesday.

Emergency crews responded to Davis’ home about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Two engines and a ladder truck from Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the fire, which was brought under control quickly, according to a press release from a city spokeswoman.

The fire caused estimated damages to the home and contents of $40,000 and $10,000, respectively.

The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
