A Suffolk detective briefs rescue workers on the situation at the scene of a dead body found in a ditch near Suburban Drive on Thursday.

Suffolk Police were working the scene of a dead body found in a ditch off Suburban Drive Thursday.

The body was found near the intersection of Suburban Drive and Riddick Drive on Thursday about 3:46 p.m. City spokeswoman Debbie George said children playing in the area found the body. Crime scene investigators, detectives and fire department personnel were at the scene.

The body appears to be a white male, possibly in his 40s, George said.

“Police are looking into the possibility that it is a resident of a nearby adult home,” she said.

The site is around the corner from the NubJones Assisted Living Facility.

However, a man who answered the phone at NubJones Thursday afternoon and said he was the administrator denied that one of its residents is missing and declined to answer any more questions.

Police are investigating the scene as an undetermined death, George said.
