Courtney Leigh King and John Patrick Hawkins were united in holy matrimony on Oct. 2, 2010 at West End Baptist Church, Suffolk, Va. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Floyd Irby, of Suffolk, and the Rev. Derek Koolman of Charlottesville, Va., a cousin of the bride. Dinner and dancing followed at the Suffolk Hilton Garden Inn.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis G. King, of Suffolk, Va. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Lee Byrum, the late Mr. Peter Paul King and the late Mr. and Mrs. William J. Fowler, all of Suffolk.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary C. Hawkins, of Dallas, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paschal Ballard, of Bardstown, Ky., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hawkins, of Dallas, Texas.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Miss Carla R. King, of Alexandria, Va., sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Pamela Taglis, Miss Sarah Nagle and Miss Lauren Sommers, all of Fairfax, Va., and Miss Megan Weber, of Virginia Beach, Va. Flowers girls were Lauren Haverty, of Suffolk, and Emily Byrum, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., both cousins of the bride.

Mr. Jeffrey Hawkins, of Sacramento, Calif., brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Theodore Hill, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Mr. Michael Alcantar, of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Chad Fine, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mr. Christopher King, brother of the bride, of Suffolk. Ringbearers were William Haverty, of Suffolk, and Lucas Byrum, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., both cousins of the bride.

Mrs. Angela Cox, of Sugar Land, Texas, aunt of the groom, was the reader. Acolytes were Brooks Koolman and Ingram Koolman, of Charlottesville, Va., both cousins of the bride. The organist was Mr. Dean Kershaw, and the soloist was Mrs. Susan Byrum, cousin of the bride. Mistress of Ceremonies was Mrs. Lisa H. Koolman of Charlottesville, Va., cousin of the bride.

Courtney is a graduate of George Mason University and holds her master’s degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She is employed by Hibiscus Children’s Center in Stuart, Fla. Patrick is a graduate of the University of San Diego, and is employed at McArthur Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla. He is PGA certified, Class A.

The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at the Nansemond River Golf Club in Suffolk.

The couple now reside in Stuart, Fla.
