A woman in her 30s died after the dirt bike she was riding on flipped over on Saturday afternoon.

Rescue units were called to respond at 4:18 p.m. off a dirt road near the 3200 block of Nansemond Parkway, near Nansemond River High School.

According to early reports, the victim was riding on the dirt bike with another person when the driver lost control of the dirt bike. The bike struck a log, which caused the dirt bike to flip over, according to a city spokeswoman.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld until her family can be notified.
