Sexton: King’s Fork grad, and former shortstop, Leigh Sexton is a junior on Longwood’s softball team. The Lady Lancers were in Honolulu, Hawaii two weeks ago when the Japanese earthquake and tsunami hit. The team spent a night evacuated to a hotel away from the shore. On the field, Longwood’s trip included beating nationally-ranked Hawaii.

Longwood’s softball trip to Hawaii was big enough and exciting enough for what the Lady Lancers had lined up for them on the field.

Off to a great start to their season with a 12-3 record, including two wins against Virginia and a win against nationally-ranked Notre Dame, more testing competition, along with a heck of a destination, awaited a couple weeks ago.

King’s Fork alum and Longwood junior infielder Leigh Sexton is in her first season with the Lady Lancers after attending Randolph College and playing Division III softball for two years.
