Mr. and Mrs. James and Patricia Whitfield, of Courtland, Va., announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Sarah Marie Whitfield, to Mr. Theotis Lamont Porter Sr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Aron and Gladys Porter, of Suffolk, Va.

Sarah is a graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She currently works at King’s Fork High School, where she also coaches varsity girls volleyball. Theotis attended Beaver County College, Pa., and Essex College, Md. He currently works at King’s Fork High School, also, and is coaching boys varsity basketball. The wedding will take place April 16, 2011 at Rising St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church in Suffolk at 3 p.m.
