Jesse Lewis James, 92, passed away March 23, 2011, at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond, Va. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby H. James; daughters, Nancy Lappa and husband, Nick, of Glen Allen, Va., and Bonnie Kinere and husband, Scott, of Beaumont, Texas; sons, Jimmy James and partner, Jay Kohn, of Falls Church, Va., and Charles James, of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Sheila Powers and Holly Horton; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Haley Moore; sister, Virginia Butts, of Suffolk; many nieces and nephews. Mr. James proudly served in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of World War II. Arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of Virginia, 1927 Westmoreland Street, Richmond, Va. (804-355-3360) Services will be held graveside at 2 p.m., Friday, April 15, at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Va., followed by a reception.
