Suffolk Police are investigating an alleged robbery reported Friday night on East Washington Street.

The victim reported he wanted to stop at the Happy Shopper at 600 E. Washington St. to get gas. He pulled in, but the pumps were full, so he pulled through and was getting ready to exit the parking lot, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.

That’s when he saw a black male in a hooded sweatshirt who approached his car and made a hand motion as if to ask for a cigarette, George said. The man then got in the car with a gun. He made the victim drive to Beech Street, then took the victim’s wallet and left.

The victim then went home, where his girlfriend made him call the police, George said.
